Q.  What kinds of projects and initiatives does the Foundation support?

Innovative initiatives or projects that will contribute to the arts, culture and heritage in the City of Mississauga, or ones that showcase the art and ingenuity of Mississauga citizens to the rest of the world.

Q. Can I receive funding for capital construction, e.g., a building?

Yes, providing your organization meets the requirements of the grants program, see Grants Program Purpose and Procedures.

Q.  Do I have to be a registered charity?

Applicant organizations must be incorporated or registered, not-for-profit organizations based in Mississauga with a duly constituted board of directors and officers.

Q.  How much do you give out each year?

The Foundation uses the investment income earned on its endowment fund to convey grants to worthy arts, culture and heritage initiatives.  Because investment income fluctuates, the number and amount of grants may vary from year to year.

Q.  What size of grants do you allocate?

Grants will be limited to 50 per cent of the project being applied for to a maximum of $5,000. The Foundation reserves the right to make special one-time grants to projects that have a broader community benefit in one of the three funding areas of arts, culture or heritage.

Q.  What time of year can I apply for a grant?

The Foundation accepts project proposals on an ongoing basis and approves them on a quarterly basis.

Q. How long does the approval process take?

The application and approval process may take three or more months depending on the timing of our funding cycle and availability of funds.

Q.  How do I apply for a grant?

The Granting Committee, in accordance with the eligibility policy, makes its recommendations to the Foundation board, which makes the final decision.
